Effect of Watershed Delineation and Climate Datasets Density on Runoff Predictions for the Upper Mississippi River Basin Using SWAT within HAWQS

چکیده
The quality of input data and the process watershed delineation can affect accuracy runoff predictions in modeling. Upper Mississippi River Basin was selected to evaluate effects subbasin and/or hydrologic response unit (HRU) delineations density climate dataset on simulated streamflow water balance components using Hydrologic Water Quality System (HAWQS) platform. Five scenarios were examined with same parameter set, including 8- 12-digit codes, two levels HRU thresholds densities. Results showed that statistic evaluations monthly from 1983 2005 satisfactory at some gauge sites but relatively worse others when shifting 8-digit subbasins, revealing schemes vary across a large basin. Average channel slope drainage increased significantly subbasins. This resulted higher lateral flow groundwater estimates, especially for flow. Moreover, finer tends generate more because it captures refined level spatial variability. analysis datasets revealed denser produced predicted runoff, summer months.

Climate Change Sensitivity Assessment on Upper Mississippi River Basin Streamflows Using SWAT
The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model was used to assess the impacts of potential future climate change on the hydrology of the Upper Mississippi River Basin (UMRB). Calibration and validation of SWAT were performed on a monthly basis for 1968-87 and 1988-97, respectively; R and Nash-Sutcliffe simulation efficiency (E) values computed for the monthly comparisons were 0.74 and 0.65 for...

In the distributed hydrological simulations for complex mountain areas, large amounts of meteorological input parameters with high spatial and temporal resolutions are necessary. However, the extreme scarcity and uneven distribution of the traditional meteorological observation stations in cold and arid regions of Northwest China makes it very difficult in meeting the requirements of hydrologic...

Hydrological components in a river basin can get adversely affected by climate change in coming future. Manipur River basin lies in the extreme northeast region of India nestled in the lesser Himalayan ranges and it is under severe pressure from anthropogenic and natural factors. Basin is un-gauged as it lies in remote location and suffering from large data scarcity. This paper explores the imp...

Abstract In this study, the predicted monthly temperature and rainfall data from HadCM3 model (base period, ۱۹۷۲-۲۰۰۱) and next period (۲۰۱۱-۲۰۴۰) under A2emission scenario were used to investigate the impacts of climate change on runoff variations in the Kor river basin. HadCM3 model output was downscaled based on a temporal downscaling approach (Change Factor) and spatial downscaling appro...
